Metabolic and endocrine responses to short-term nutrient imbalances in the feed ration of mid-lactation dairy cows

چکیده

Short-term imbalances of dietary nutrients occur during natural fluctuations in roughage quality (e.g. on pasture) or temporal shortages supplementary feed components. In contrast to a deficiency, macronutrients (i.e. carbohydrates, proteins, lipids) beyond the adequate supply with other may, for instance, alter milk composition, increase BW result greater excretion nitrogen. Especially dairy cows moderate performance, mid- late lactation, extensive farming systems may be exposed imbalanced rations. A better understanding metabolic and endocrine responses depending macronutrient help precisely cows. The present study investigated short-term different levels concentrates formulated particularly provide one major source (carbohydrates, proteins lipids). Based parity number, lactational stage, yield BW, nine mid-lactating (211 ± 19 days milk) were grouped into three blocks animals each. Concentrates (aminogenic: rich CP nitrogen sources; glucogenic: high content carbohydrates glucogenic precursors; lipogenic: lipid content) fed addition hay factorial arrangement at increasing from 2.5 7.5 kg/d 9 d. Milk yield, intake recorded daily. Blood sampled every 3 d end each concentrate level. fat, protein, lactose urea contents determined. blood, concentrations various metabolites, factors enzyme activities glucose, non-esterified fatty acids (NEFAs), β-hydroxybutyrate, urea, cholesterol, triglycerides, insulin, glucagon, aspartate aminotransferase (ASAT), gamma-glutamyltransferase (GGT) glutamate dehydrogenase activity (GLDH)) measured. composition not affected by type level concentrates. Feed increased amounts aminogenic lipogenic compared concentrate. plasma elevated lesser extent treatment treatment. Glucose treatments, whereas insulin glucagon increased, NEFA decreased only Activities ASAT, GGT GLDH as well total antioxidant capacity diets. conclusion, immediate observed due changes. Particularly, surplus via diet stimulated secretion.

Endocrine responses to short-term feed deprivation in weanling pigs.

The study objective was to assess endocrine and tIssue responses to feed deprivation in weaned pigs. In experiment 1, eight crossbred castrated male pigs were either fed on a continual basis (CON; n=4) or were feed deprived for 24 h and then re-fed until 30 h (FD; n=4). Relative serum concentrations of ghrelin tended to be lower in FD pigs at 12 h (P=0.08) when compared with CON pigs, but was h...

Liver fat content and lipid metabolism in dairy cows during early lactation and during a mid-lactation feed restriction.

During the transition period, the lipid metabolism of dairy cows is markedly affected by energy status. Fatty liver is one of the main health disorders after parturition. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of a negative energy balance (NEB) at 2 stages in lactation [NEB at the onset of lactation postpartum (p.p.) and a deliberately induced NEB by feed restriction near 100 d in mi...

In vitro and Lactation Responses in Mid-lactating Dairy Cows Fed Protected Amino Acids and Fat

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of ruminally protected amino acids (RPAAs) and ruminally protected fat (RPF) supplementation on ruminal fermentation characteristics (in vitro) and milk yield and milk composition (in vivo). Fourteen mid-lactating Holstein dairy cows (mean weight 653±62.59 kg) were divided into two groups according to mean milk yield and number of days of p...

Comparison of Different Lactation Curve Models to Describe Lactation Curve in Moroccan Holstein-Friesian Dairy Cows

In this study, the incomplete gamma function, an exponential function, a mixed-log function and a polynomial function were evaluated to describe the lactation curve in Moroccan Holstein-Friesian dairy cows. Data from 1990 to 1999, comprising 77130 monthly milk yields of 6029 dairy cows in 280 dairy herds, were used. Edits were carried out by considering the lactation length (5 d and
